This book by Klaus Lindemann is the best of the two main books on Chuuk (I have both) and seems to be the more accurate. The book has a detailed description of Operation Hailstone, the code name for the American Navy's attack on the formerly inpenetratable Truk Lagoon which occurred on 17 and 18 February 1944. The 96 pages of the lead up to and the actual attack are really enlightening and the 24 pages of photographs from the attack and of the wrecks now really make you hanker to dive the wrecks.

The book has 133 pages of actual descriptions of the wrecks including the main features to be seen on each wreck and suggested parts of the wreck to explore. This is excellent for pre-dive planning and makes sure that you can see the best the wrecks have to offer.

As well, the book has 39 pages of information about the islands of Chuuk, including the sights to see on the islands, especially the war relics that remain and where to find them. Great for in between dives and for that non-diving last day.

The final 52 pages of the book contains details of the planes and ships involved in the attack on the Japanese fleet and the Japanese warships and planes involved in the defence.

This is an immaculately researched book and written in easy to read style. It is an important book for any diver planning to visit Chuuk Lagoon to own (or at least borrow) prior to your trip. I can certainly recommend it to every diver.
